Recognizing that many Howard County families are impacted by the Federal Government shutdown, County Executive Ball has announced the temporary suspension of residential water disconnections until the shutdown is over. The County Executive has also asked organizations to consider assisting, as is possible.
In concert with Executive Ball’s action, HCLS will temporarily suspend fines and fees through the shutdown. Specifically:
- Fines/fees will not accrue from January 4 through the end of the shutdown.
- Fines/fees owed prior to January 4 are not being waived and are still owed after the shutdown ends. Cardholders owing $10 or more in fines accrued before January 4 will be unable to renew materials and use self-check. Please contact staff for assistance.
- No charge for FAX service
