Blossoms of Hope: The Howard County Cherry Tree Project
Howard County Library System is in beautiful cherry-blossom bloom each spring, thanks to Howard County Government and Howard County Tourism's Blossoms of Hope project. In an effort to enhance the county's landscapes and to draw residents and visitors to its major attractions, Blossoms of Hope allows private citizens, organizations, and businesses to purchase Kwanzan Cherry trees from the county, with 30 percent of the proceeds going to the Howard County Hospital Foundation, designated for the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource and Image Center.
Sponsored trees are planted and maintained by the county in specially designated locations, and are permanently marked by a garden dedication plaque. Cherry blossom trees can be found at the Central Library, East Columbia and Elkridge branches.
