Begun with grant money from the Maryland State Department of Education, Howard County Library System (HCLS) initiated Cultural Connections in 2005 to improve educational opportunities for Howard County’s diverse multicultural population through:

 

  • Classes and events for all ages, such as English Conversation Classes
  • World Languages Collection
  • Materials, including books, music, movies, magazines, newspapers, and specialized online research tools
  • InterpreTALK, a telephonic interpreting service linking non-English speakers with skilled interpreters, is available at all branches.

Passport Acceptance Services
HCLS' East Columbia Branch is a designated Passport Acceptance Facility, complementing Cultural Connections.
