HCLS Project Literacy Volunteer
Position Title: Adult Literacy & ESL Instructors
Branch: Howard County Central Library
Department: Project Literacy
Major Responsibilities: To teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening to adults who do not have a high school diploma and/or to learners who speak English as a second language.
Training: Literacy/ESL instructors are required to participate in an orientation before the start of their assignments. Instructors are also required to participate in at least eight hours of annual training. Library staff supervise and provide on-going instructional support throughout the assignments. All teaching materials are free to both the instructors and the students.
Qualifications: All instructors are required to have at least a bachelor’s degree.
Length of commitment: A minimum of six months.
Time Involvement: 2 – 4 hours per week/support-us/project-literacy/
