“I know first-hand that HCLS delivers unparalleled educational experiences. I realized this when my children participated in Battle of the Books and that’s why I joined Friends of Howard County Library System. I thought it was important to give back to a community institution that gave my family so much.
While it’s true that HCLS receives generous support through tax dollars, it takes more to produce such life-changing events as Battle of the Books. With money from the Friends, 4,500 books are made available each year so 1,500 students can participate in this countywide academic competition.
My contributions make sure that this and other great HCLS initiatives will continue for future generations. And that’s what it means to be a Friend.”
