Stories shape narratives. Narratives shape perceptions. Perceptions shape actions.
Howard County Library System is a home for brave stories and a place to be heard. At the Library, our goal is to support our diverse and evolving community.
Through our racial equity initiative, we meet people where they are and give them effective tools and processes to grow personally and professionally; increase understanding and relationships across differences; effect change; and create an equitable society free of guilt, blame, and hostility.
We provide a platform for people to tell their own stories. This helps to better inform perceptions, develop new narratives, and re-position equity as the ideal state of being through which everyone benefits.
Visit the new Brave Stories exhibit at the East Columbia Branch. Read about your neighbors’ experiences. Take the time to listen to their Brave Stories—and share your own.
