WAUTO is a machine learning based system that optimizes wastewater reclamation plant operations for communities especially vulnerable to flooding events, like Ellicott City experienced in 2016 and 2018.
Bipendra Basnyat, PhD – Adjunct Professor, UMBC and entrepreneurial innovator. Dr. Basnyat has developed a solution for deterring wildlife in urban landscapes using his AICoexist platform. His research is exploring opportunities to develop and implement humane and innovative solutions for human-wildlife conflict management.

The use of AI in the development of fiscal policy is a newly-developed concept which has a lot of potential to be a success. This 10-15 minute presentation by Malvika Dhond, a sophomore enrolled in Marriotts Ridge High School's G/T Independent Research Program, will go over her comprehensive research on this fascinating topic. Students will have the chance to learn about this application of AI and receive recommendations on how they can use the information to their advantage in the future. Students will also be provided information regarding how the HCPSS G/T Intern/Mentor and Independent Research Programs work if they are interested in registering for them. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

If you are interested in how things work, or have a favorite item that needs repair, join us to see what’s possible. Clothing, jewelry, small electrical appliances, toys, furniture. (Sorry, but no smart phones or computers, or gas powered devices.)
Volunteers will evaluate and fix as many of them as they can and offer their expertise on items that are too large or not possible to bring in. Instead of throwing away broken items, bring them to a Repair Cafe where volunteers will do their best to give them a new life.
