Howard County Library System (HCLS) welcomes suggestions for materials that are not in the collection. Purchase decisions are guided by our selection policy, and the availability of materials and funds. While we thoughtfully review every recommendation, we are unable to add all suggestions to the collection.
Please check the catalog before placing the request to ensure that we do not already own the title.
Please do not place suggestions for new materials more than 3 months prior to the publication date.
A valid HCLS library card number and email address are required for us to process your request.
For older items—such as textbooks, specialized or technical materials published more than a year ago, or out-of-print works—you may want to consider using our Interlibrary Loan Service.
HCLS recognizes local literary and creative efforts and provides Howard County authors with the opportunity to share their work through the Howard County Author Collection. Please use this form if interested in donating your work.
It is our goal to respond to every request placed through the Suggest a Purchase form in three weeks. Due to the volume of suggestions, that may not always be possible.
